Base upgrades
The base game's cube already upgrades unique, set and rare weapons and armor to the next tier (normal to exceptional, exceptional to elite), keeping their stats: uniques and sets with Ral + Sol + Perfect Emerald (weapon) or Tal + Shael + Perfect Diamond (armor) to exceptional, Lum + Pul + Perfect Emerald or Ko + Lem + Perfect Diamond to elite; rares with Ort + Amn + Perfect Sapphire or Ral + Thul + Perfect Amethyst to exceptional, Fal + Um + Perfect Sapphire or Ko + Pul + Perfect Amethyst to elite. The required level goes up by 5 (exceptional) or 7 (elite). Runewords have no upgrade in the base game; ours are in the table above.
Buying a Token of Absolution
During the alpha, Akara sells the Token of Absolution for 1 gold in every difficulty, in single player and on the ladder, so you can try other builds. Using one resets all your skill and stat points.
Buying the Spellbook
Not in the game yet For now Malah sells the Spellbook for 1 gold in every difficulty. Put it in the cube with a magic weapon, armor, ring, amulet, jewel or quiver to turn that item into a rare of the same base and item level; the book has 5 charges, loses one each time and is used up after the fifth. Charms have no rare version, so the cube doesn't take them.
Rune upgrades
Upgrading runes takes only the runes: no gems, even for the higher runes. Hover a rune in game and its tooltip shows the recipe, for example how many Ber runes make a Jah.
A bigger cube
The cube holds 10 × 12 squares: the whole panel is storage, with the Transmute button under the grid. Items already in your cube keep their places.
