Currency orbs

Our own crafting currency: orbs that reroll, upgrade, corrupt and socket your gear.

The orbs

Every orb drops on its own, exactly as often as the rune named on its card: it sits next to that rune in the drop tables with the same weight, so any monster that can drop the rune drops the orb just as often.

Corruption

Put the Corruption Orb and one weapon, armor or quiver alone in the Horadric Cube and press Transmute. It works on every base, and a corrupted item can't be corrupted again. The item gets one random property from its slot's list below and is marked Corrupted. In about 26% of uses it bricks instead: the item is rerolled as a corrupted rare of the same base and item level.

The item's own line for the mod the orb added turns red, so you see at once what the corruption gave, and its value shows only once (the line shows the item's total for that mod, which can include its own affixes).

If the game's lines can't be read (after a game update, say), a red line just above Corrupted names the mod instead (for example Enhanced Damage), without its value, which stays in the mod's normal line.

Sockets

The Socketsmith's Box adds sockets two ways. In the Horadric Cube with a normal or superior weapon or armor without sockets, it gives the item as many sockets as its base allows. Alone in the cube with a rare or unique item without sockets, it rolls: 1 socket 40%, 2 sockets 45%, 3 sockets 15%. Where the base can't hold 3, the 3 becomes 2.

Not in the game yet To take socketed items out again, cube the item with a Hel rune and a Scroll of Identify: you keep the item and get back every gem, rune and jewel.
